Daniel Hofmann, LMHC

Meet Daniel Hofmann, LMHC...

Daniel is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington. He earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Oregon and an M.S. in Counselor Education, focused in couples and family therapy from Portland State University. He worked in early childhood learning centers as an assistant teacher for 5 years while completing his degrees. Daniel has provided counseling in community mental health clinics since 2017.

Daniel believes that counseling is most effective when it comes from a place of collaboration and mutual respect between client(s) and counselor. He works from a non-pathologizing and non-judgmental stance and encourages the same from clients through the use of empathy, flexibility, and curiosity. Daniel will work with you to discover what in your life works well and what doesn’t. He will strive to amplify your strengths and change what holds you back from leading a satisfying life. This will likely be a difficult task. Daniel will provide a safe, welcoming space to explore your experiences and he will be compassionate when challenging you to try something different.

People come to counseling when (and sometimes long after) they’ve determined that something doesn’t feel right in their lives and what they’ve already been trying hasn’t helped enough. This might be most noticeable in past or current relationships, moods, thought patterns, physical sensations, or likely a combination. The circumstances surrounding these concerns are as variable as the people who seek help, but it is a courageous act for all to reach out for support when vulnerable.

Daniel’s approach to counseling is integrative, synthesizing concepts of Humanism, Attachment, Psychodynamic Theories, and Family Systems Theories. He also draws heavily from Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Mindfulness. Your unique situation and goals will determine which areas are focused on in counseling.

Daniel works with adolescents, individual adults, couples, and families from a variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. He supports and affirms those in the LGBTQ+ community as well as those who practice consensual non-monogamy and/or kink. He has experience with presenting concerns including anxiety, depression, complex trauma, sexual abuse, suicidality, anger, aggression, ADHD, ASD, family conflict, relationship issues, life transitions, and navigating foster care and adoption.
