Amy Lee, LMHCA
ON LEAVE | Meet Amy Lee, LMHCA...
As a parent, there is nothing more upsetting than seeing your child struggle. When a child is struggling it affects the whole family. I enjoy working with children of all ages who may need help expressing themselves and regulating their emotions. I am passionate about helping children conquer their anxiety, OCD, fears, trauma, grief/loss, anger, phobias, panic attacks, and depression. I have a lot of experience working with children to navigate peer relationships, school related issues, learning disabilities, and ADHD.
Therapeutic Approach & Philosophy
I love working collaboratively while empowering kids to overcome challenges and recognize their strengths. I am LGBTQ+ and trans-affirming. I believe in creating a therapeutic environment that is open, safe, caring and focused on building a trusting relationship.
My background in school counseling and knowledge of the school system allows me to have a unique perspective and insight to better advocate for students. I utilize a variety of approaches to respond to the needs of my clients. These include play therapy, mindfulness therapy, art therapy, bibliotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy.
I enjoy working with children (as young as 3), adolescents, parents who may need some extra support and new parents who are navigating life with a child either through birth, adoption or foster care.
Personal
I live on the Eastside with my husband and three children. We live on a small farm with our sweet animals (dogs, cats, chickens, guinea pigs, pony and alpaca). Our family loves to camp and spend time outdoors. As a child of two teachers I grew up volunteering in schools and have always had a passion for helping children of all ages reach their full potential. When I became a parent, my daughter struggled with anxiety and I didn’t know where to turn for help. I then made the decision to go back to school to pursue a career in mental health. I have a very strong passion for supporting families and children, so they do not feel alone. Things can and will get better.
